I caught the demon horse!
Ok, technically, according to my Hyrule Compendium, it's a Giant Horse. But a moblin-sized horse that kicks you in the head when you breathe wrong in its direction has to have demon somewhere in its ancestry. And then, after all that effort, it isn't even that fast? Whatever. I cantered past the lynels (! plural! horrible!) and showed it off to the people at the mounted archery course, and then took it back to the stable since I might as well have something to show for my efforts. Its name is Firefax now. From there, I figured, I might as well finish my horse collection, so I headed north and picked up the quest for the white horse - which is by a memory of a pond shaped like a horseshoe I'm -
Anyways, horse-catching is a lot easier with 2 full stamina wheels and a Sheikah outfit. So I tamed the horse and named it Rhoam and got a saddle out of it. And THAT's what I call a good horse. Nice strength, good speed, tons of spurs. Guess royal blood's good for something!
I followed my map pins north to the next stable (Serenne) and then swung back at the opening to Hebra to ride along the ridge there, which brought me to - ah. That's why it's dark in Rudania. Fricking Thyphlo Ruins. I kept dropping my torch and getting lost and mauled by wolves and setting myself on fire.... I hate the darkness in this game. The blue hinox in there was just the icing on the pain cake. I am so glad to never ever EVER go back there. But I survived thanks to a steady stream of fried radishes, and from there I popped north to Gut Check again just to check out that little ridge before I headed west, and I found a leviathan! Did not see that coming.
Back to Serenne to turn in my pic, then up to Snowfield Stable and Hebra Tower where I discovered that flaming weapons keep you warm in frozen wastelands??? The dev team thinks of everything in this game. From Hebra, I followed the road to Rito Village, and Vah Medoh! Rito Village is such a cool environment. It's a little jarring that my horse, previously stymied by falling rocks and massive cliffs, is now barricaded at a simple set of wooden stairs, but what can you do?
