I don't remember why I stopped using Dreamwidth.

I think I found some fandom Discords that I liked, and my brain appreciated the instant feedback, so that filled a void for a long time. I stopped using Duolingo because it was wrong about too many things. I started learning about the Elder Scrolls. I quit my job and started a master's program.

But, perhaps most importantly of all.... I GOT A SWITCH!

Not like, at the start of the pandemic when everyone was playing Animal Crossing. A month ago.
Two weeks ago, I got Breath of the Wild, and since then, I've spent almost every minute of free time playing it. Y'all, I really like this game. There's so much to explore, so many angles you can take, and almost everything you try could be a solution. I cleared Vah Ruta and Vah Naboris and I'd been having a BLAST.

Yesterday, I was debugging my Switch and decided to reset the console. At the time, I was under the impression that games on a chip would save on a chip. You know, like every other Nintendo handheld console I've ever owned? Right, except the Switch (even the Switch Lite) is not a normal handheld. It does part-time as a plugged in console that goes to the TV. And TV-linked consoles save things on the console. Oops.

But I'm back on Dreamwidth now, and I've got something to talk about: my Breath of the Wild playthrough. I've played some of the game, but not completed it. To make it harder and more novel, I've turned on Pro Mode. Time to get lost in Hyrule!

So the plateau went pretty easily this time. I spent a lot of time running away from Bokoblins in my first go. Then I learned how the bow works. So, funny story: on my first playthrough, I managed to leave the plateau and run to Kakariko Village completely naked, with three hearts and an upgraded stamina wheel. Not on purpose. I just couldn't find any clothes except the warm doublet, and I ran out of spicy peppers trying to get to the Cryonis shrine so the old man wouldn't give me his shirt.. So I left the plateau in search of peppers, thinking I would come back to give King Rhoam his spicy meat and seafood stir-fry when I did so.

Sure, I knew he was a ghost at the time, but there's nothing stopping ghosts from having a favorite meal.

During the course of this adventure, I became exceedingly good at archery and bomb-throwing, because a single blue bokoblin could one-shot me. I climbed taluses and got very good at shooting Octoroks. I cleared like five shrines, got to Kakariko Village, bought my first outfit.... and that's when I discovered outfits aren't just cosmetic, they're armor.

I would later find out that there were clothes in the resurrection shrine.

So basically I had been playing Breath of the WIld on super hard mode, and as a result, my combat skills had gotten wildly overpowered for where I was. By the time I got dressed properly, moblins felt like no big deal at all.

This time, I felt like I would once more run out into the wild in my boxers and recreate the glory of my first ignorant pants-free run. I also decided to explore the Forest of Spirits, which I had not explored before. This time, I was better prepared and caught several summerwing butterflies as I crossed the plateau in preparation for the River of the Dead. Circling around to the northwest, I actually found a wall and climbed up to it, dropping down on the Magnesis bridge and completely skipping the initial run in the snow I had struggled with before. Equipped with my butterfly juice, I made it up no problem, and got to the old man's house with plenty of spicy peppers to spare.

So I had a shirt this time. After it would have been useful, but nevertheless.

Then, while returning to the Temple of Time, I found a chest... with Hylian pants. 3 armor.

Approximate live reaction: "aRE you sHITTING me"

so now, with my knowledge of a) saving peppers for the doublet b) hylian pants c) the climbing hat I have absolutely no reason to not have an outfit before I reach the Dueling Peaks stables. Now I have even fewer excuses for showing up in Kakariko in a pair of 100 year old boxers. What was I doing the first time?

I then flung myself off the south of the Plateau to explore somewhere I haven't been before: the Highlands. I've just reached the stable, and I have a horse! It is grey and its (his? hers? I feel like it's a boy) name is Cloud. I have also heard something about a shrine that resurrects dead horses. Next time I will detour to get the tower first, and then go find the shrine of horses. If I figure out how to get pictures off my Switch I will post them so you can all see my lovely horse.

I also have a friend code now! Not going to post it here, but if you want it, just comment and I'll message it to you.
