I left off in Retsam Forest, home of sunshrooms. Robbie did want me to pay him a visit, right? I'm in the area. Might as well.
I get the feeling that either you're supposed to come here earlier or Nintendo doesn't expect people to be very completionist. Specifically, to install the Purah Pad upgrades, you need to complete a whopping fifteen shrines (for Hero's Path, now in base game) and take ten whole pictures of monsters (for the sensor).
Robbie, my guy. I have a full triple stamina wheel and twelve hearts. I have seventy pictures of monsters and I know I've missed a couple (I panicked and straight up forgot to photograph the Rito boss and the only buff Yiga I encountered died too quickly for the photo op to take place). You've gotta raise your standards. The travel medallion is hanging out in Akkala, but like I said, with that many shrines, I don't really. Need? It? Thanks for the radar anyways. It should be useful for dragon hunting later.
Hateno's been overrun with mushroom fashion, courtesy of the legendary Cece. There's a mayoral election of some sort, but I'm not too interested in that. What I am interested in is my old house! Where is it? Do I still have all my weapon racks? Well. No. I don't. Because I guess after I rescued her from Ganon, Zelda moved in with me. Her photos are on the wall and her stuff is in the corner. We didn't get an extra bed though, so I guess we're just crammed into the one twin-size this old condemned place came with. She started a school in Hateno, and asked for Bolson to build her a hideout - which turns out to be in a well. And she has one of my hair ties (I say one of because I was clearly wearing one in the opening cinematic, and I don't think that's the one in the well). My heart? OMG? I can't believe this is real. I'm never taking this off.
Also, she made me a new champion's tunic - apparently, even with dragon-horn fortification, the old one had been getting a bit grubby. And that was before I got half of it disintegrated by gloom. The problem is that it's in the throne room, and the throne room is a bit. Up? Right now. Put that on the to do list. I know from experience in BotW that it's good to check out the final dungeon more than once. Especially since I kind of suspect Ganondorf isn't in the up version of the castle.
The mayoral election's just a bunch of sidequests involving Hateno's weirdly extensive well system, and also cheese, which apparently everyone forgot to make on account of one apocalypse or another and also this game being by Japanese devs. But at the end, I get my Hylian Hood modified, and guess what? Hair tie comes with. Ok. This hat is allowed. I'm not feeling the ultra stylish mushroom hat, but knowing this game, it will probably get me some perks involving the wandering fashionistas. Maybe they'll give me more maps so I can get my damned climbing pants back. I also cut down a lot of grass. And you knows what grows in Hateno grass? Hylian rice! Finally! Jump back to Lurelin and dump all that on Bolson. Turns out he also wants some help putting in pillars with Ultrahand. No problem, boss! Lurelin Village is back on the map.
What's the point of fighting monsters, after all, if not so everyone can come home?
