I'm a few days behind my Breath of the Wild blogging, but better late recap than never!
Vah Medoh was a much harder archery challenge than Vah Ruta! Those targets are small. But I was sort of expecting a more... challenging "boss battle" to get there than just clearing the flight range? Like, you have to run all the way through lightning and rain to get to Zora's Domain, and then get all the way up the Lynel hill, before the game even lets you fight Vah Ruta. To fight Vah Rudania, you have to deal with the painful, guardian-riddled, cannonball ascent.
And for Medoh, you just.... shove some peppers into your mouth, do thirty seconds of archery, and here we go?
It took me longer to find the Rito elder in that spire of a village than to get from him to Teba, clear the Flight Range, and get in shooting position for Medoh. IDK, I expected more? It's not even difficult to get to the Rito Village, really, it's just kind of far. In terms of the actual mechanics, I would have been comfortable doing Medoh as my first Beast - certainly more so than something like Rudania, which hurts muchly and is on fire and covered in Guardians, as long as I had collected enough random loot to sell for rupees on the way. And Windblight Ganon went down easily to a good handful of bomb arrows placed directly in the eye.
Tipping Medoh left and right was a cool mechanic though! I enjoyed the sliding blocks puzzles.
Quick sidenote - for a bird, Revali is one catty queen. What's his deal?
From there, I rode south across Tabantha back to the Outskirt Stable in a big loop, picking up a handful of shrines along the way... and I finally collected enough shrines so I could have the hearts to pull the Master Sword! So I cashed in my hearts, teleported up to the Deku Tree... and flashback??? How is Link remembering something he wasn't there to see at all? Zelda says the Master Sword spoke to her.... does that mean that the memory was the Master Sword speaking to Link?
Then I headed back to the Outskirt Stable and rode into the Gerudo desert to pick up the last two towers, finishing the Hyrule map for the first time. That feels good.
I'm excited to bring the Master Sword to Riju. I wonder if she'll react to its presence. Everyone else has called out my lack of the sword that seals the darkness before - but I HAVE it now. Take that, suckers!
