Well, I have to go check on that bridge anyways. May as well walk there. Or climb.
Specifically, I'm climbing along the north edge of the Great Hyrule Forest, looking for shrines along the way. There's a couple - Sikukuu and Kikakin. And as I verge onto the edge of the snowfield - oh fuck there's some sort of giant three-headed ice dragon thing? The camera helpfully informs me it's a "Frost Gleeok". I don't like that. I'm going away from it now. Back to Snowfield Stable for like, the third time now. The musicians are there, and helpfully inform me that the other guy is at Tabantha Stable, which is aaaages away and not on my map right now. I'm guessing I'll need a cart.
Fine. I shrine teleport to Rito Bridge. Karson's out of wood - it's a good thing I already have 25 stacks. I was going to use it for the pinecone trick but I guess he can have this. I restock by clear-cutting around the stable for a bit. Time to head south - except I don't have my horse, because this isn't a stable any more. I guess we're doing this on foot. I catch a falling rock up and spot the next geoglyph. I think it's Sonia. Paraglide down. Doing this out of order is a little weird, because I've seen this memory in the sword memory. It's the scene with Sonia and Zelda in the gazebo. Sonia mentions that Zelda desperately wants to help them in their time and I realize these guys don't know about Ganondorf. This is the very first time. Oh shit. Also, the guards' outfits continue to give off that South American vibe, which I'm here for.
Impa and Cado are there when I get out of the memory, their balloon waylaid by the absolutely pouring rain, and mention that the Dragon's Tears are supposed to be made when a dragon ascends. Yeah. I have a sneaking suspicion these did not so much appear during the Upheaval as get retconned into existence. Zelda's always been back there now. She's always fought in the war. She has always become the dragon.
I take shelter from the rain next to the mountain, grabbing a couple more shrines I saw on the way down. At this point, I'm at the northern foot of the Gerudo Highlands and I've still got like, eight servings of spicy food from running around in Rito Village. Why not? I wait until morning for the rain to clear, then head up The first thing I notice is an almost complete lack of shrines. I get all the way up to Gerudo Summit without spotting one. The second is that there are many monsters frozen into ice. On a whim, I tried to photograph one, then realized I could use the camera to ID monsters frozen in ice before deciding whether I wanted to thaw them out. Handy!
On the other side of the mountains, I finally see the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower. Just one problem. It's missing its first floor? How do I get in? Oh, thank god the Hudson crew took notes. Apparently there's a cave nearby and the spot I need to ascend through will be marked with scaffolding. Nice. The cave turns out to be mostly a river, so I just literally toss in a random slab of wood as a raft and get going, picking bomb flowers en route. Ascend gets me into a snow cave - I guess that's where the first floor went. And then up I go! I spot a couple shrines, the next Skyview tower for Gerudo Desert, and a big Death Star looking thing. What is that? I'm heading over there.
It really looks like the Death Star, made of all these rough plates. I figure there has to be a way in somewhere, so I start running towards the top pole and I'm right, there's a hole in it! As well as the glow of some sort of Zonai device. I drop in, and I am informed I've found a Starview sphere. Inside, a lot of fans, a dispenser that gives Ice and Lightning heads - score!, and a bunch of Zonai like, satellite dishes that don't seem to do anything when they're hit. Hmm. I do a few laps of theDeath Starview Sphere before accidentally running into the side of the satellite dish and hearing the distinctive sound of a turning wheel. Oh! They're light reflectors. This is a beam puzzle. Nice.
I don't manage to unlock the chest, but I do complete the main puzzle, pointing the central reflector at the hexagonal pad - and summoning my second Rauru's Blessing shrine.
God that's satisfying.
And - either I've got the awareness of a post or activating the shrine created some sort of antigravity effect. I can jump and paraglide. The fans get me out of the Starview Sphere, and I notice the antigravity field seems to extend some ways away from it (now? did it always?) Oh well. Regardless, I don't see any other shrines in orbit of the Starview Sphere so next time: on to Gerudo Desert!
